Established a respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) model with ventilatory-induced lung injury (VILI) in a newborn piglet (1-2 days of life) showing pathophysiological changes seen in human preterm infants suffering from RDS.The RDS+VILI model shows a higher breathing rate, a higher oxygen needed to maintain an oxygen saturation above 90%, a higher partial carbon dioxide pressure, a higher oxygenation index, and a higher lung ultrasound score similar to the pathophysiological changes observed in human preterm infants suffering from RDS and could be used to evaluate new therapeutics for RDS. Repeated trials to collect adipose tissue and serum from a donor pig were done. Adipose tissue beads were cultured, and Adipose tissue driven stem cells were collected after 4-5 weeks.
