日本心臓血管外科手術データベース（Japan Cardiovascular Surgery Database: JCVSD）および米国The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS)のデータベースSTS National Databaseとの共同研究として、かねてより単独冠動脈バイパス手術の患者背景並びに術後成績の国際比較プロジェクトが、先行して実施・発表されていた。この研究を発展させる形で、様々な心臓大血管手術術式、具体的には大動脈弁置換手術、僧帽弁置換手術、僧帽弁形成手術、大血管手術（大動脈瘤に対する上行大動脈人工血管置換手術、全弓部大動脈人工血管置換手術、下行大動脈人工血管置換手術、ステントグラフト内挿手術）、急性大動脈解離に対する手術、感染性心内膜炎に対する手術、経カテーテル的大動脈弁留置手術（TAVI）、補助人工心臓装着手術、心臓移植手術等の単独術式、またこれらの複合手術に関してSTS National Databaseとの国際比較についての検討をおこなった。加えて、COVID-19の蔓延に伴う年次ごとの手術件数の推移、及びその国際比較も検討課題として挙がった。考察として、心臓大血管手術に限定されず、外科手術の国際比較においては、データの提供について個人情報保護の縛りがあるために生データの提供が困難であり、集計データの交換に留まるところに難しさがある。

Japan Cardiovascular Surgery Database (JCVSD) is a joint study of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and STS National Database of the United States. This research has been developed in the form of cardiovascular surgery, specific arterial replacement surgery, mitre replacement surgery, mitre formation surgery, and large vascular surgery. Single procedures such as ascending arterial vascular prosthesis replacement surgery, total aortic vascular prosthesis replacement surgery, descending arterial vascular prosthesis replacement surgery, stent implantation surgery, acute arterial dissection surgery, surgery for infectious endocarditis, arterial indwelling surgery (TAVI), assisted cardiac prosthesis surgery, heart transplant surgery, etc. The STS National Database and the International Comparison Report The spread of COVID-19 is accompanied by the evolution of the number of operations and international comparisons. The international comparison of cardiovascular surgery and surgery provides the protection of personal information.
