本研究の目的は、在宅独居療養者が在宅生活を継続する中で、支援者（独居の家族・親戚、友人、近隣者、在宅支援保健医療福祉従事者等）との関わりの中で生じる意思決定上の課題と、その課題解決のための熟練ケア提供者（ケアマネジャーや訪問看護師）のケア行動の在り方の現状を明らかにすることであった。意思決定上の課題とは、療養者が支援者に対して、自らの療養生活、ケア、生き方に関して自分の意向を表現できない、もしくは自分の意向を表現しても相手に理解してもらえず支援を十分に受け入れられていないと感じる状況、あるいは、療養者の意向が一方的であるために支援者の支援を十分に受け入れられていない状況を指す。研究一年目の本年度は、当事者である在宅独居療養者10名に対して、病院から退院する際に、自宅を生活の場にと選択した際の支援者との関わりについてインタビューをする予定であった。研究分担者と協議の上、研究計画書を作成し、学内の研究審査審査委員会の審査を受け、了承された。しかし、研究代表者の体調不良により、研究継続ができなくなった。
