本研究においては、東京都シルバ-ピア居住高齢者の居住環境について、以下の経過に沿って考究した。1.文献、既往研究を中心とする基礎的資料を収集し、高齢者の特性について再整理し、シルバ-ピア入居者に実施済の調査を再分析した。それにより、高齢者の身体特性に配慮た建築仕様が高評価されていることが明確になり、入居者の生育歴等個々の状況を範疇分け、特徴分類することができた。2.居住高齢者の経年変化について建築配慮の再評価と心理状況の変化に主眼を置き追調査を実施した。更なる老化に困惑し精神的不安を抱えているが、住居自体への評価は高く安定しているという結果を得た。3.前調査との比較において、入居者の居住環境に関する評価と入居者自身の個別的不安が顕著に表出された。住居に対しては、高評価だが、老化に関連する今後への不安は前調査時よりも明らかに増大し、外出行動や人間関係の希薄化を間接的・直接的に促進させ、孤立化を促している。ワ-デンや緊急通報システムは「安心」の指標とされていたが、いざというときに頼れないという評価に変化している。4.シルバ-ピア住居と各種施設を含む地域のネットワーク状況をみると利用を始めたという好転も見られた。施設・病院等を含む精神的・肉体的安定を促進できる機関等の整備が急務と考えられる。5.ヒアリング再調査を実施したシルバ-ピアの地域差も表出され、外出、施設利用などに違いが出ている。1〜5の各調査及び分析により、シルバ-ピア住居入居者の生活が、建築的・福祉的配慮の充実をベースとして高評価されている部分と再検討が必要な部分が抽出された。更なる老化に関連する多種多様な要求に柔軟に対応するために各種機関の有効なネットワーク化を前提とする、個々の充実と十分な情報の提供、フォローアップ体制づくりが必要である。そひて、地域環境差、個人差をベースとした経年変化を検討する事が重要である。
