项目摘要

戦後日本では米軍兵士と日本人女性の間に大量の児童が生まれ、彼らの存在は「混血児問題」として社会問題化された。本研究の目的は、「混血児問題」をめぐる異なる次元の取組をつうじて、「混血児」と呼ばれた人々の生活と経験がいかに社会的・歴史的に編成されてきたのかを解明することである。具体的には、（1）厚生省が1950年代から60年代にかけて推進した「混血児」を対象とする国際養子縁組事業の経過を分析する。これにより、どのような条件のもとで・どのような人々が養子として海外移住・実家族との離別を経験することになったのかを明らかにする。また、（2）1960年代以降に「混血児問題」に対する民間主導の運動として展開した互助グループの活動を分析する。これにより深刻な差別のもとでどのように「混血児」当事者の互助が成り立ち得たのかを明らかにする。本年度は主に（1）の研究目的に取り組んだ。調査としては、本年度上半期にかけて国立国会図書館、外務省外交史料館、日本社会事業大学などのアーカイブ、Newspaper.comなどの有料デジタルアーカイブで調査を行い、国際養子縁組事業に関する文書資料を収集し、分析した。あわせて、民間児童福祉施設で施設運営者への聞き取りを実施した。さらに、上記の課題（2）に関連する資料も収集した。下半期にかけては、こうして国際養子縁組事業の成立・発展過程を分析した内容を、論文として移民研究に特化した査読誌に投稿しアクセプトされた。また、国際養子縁組とは別に、「混血児問題」をめぐる同化主義的な取り組みを扱った研究成果も日本社会学会で報告し、『社会学評論』誌に掲載された。こうした成果発信と並行して、国際養子縁組事業を実施していた施設に属していた「混血児」と呼ばれた人々数名へのインタビュー調査を実施した。

The results of the research on assimilation by the International Children's Association and the Journal of Sociology Review were published in the Journal of Sociology.
