本研究では、20世紀前半の中国で勃興した宗教・慈善団体「道院・世界紅卍字会」と、同時期に日本で発展した民衆宗教「大本教」の提携関係を歴史学的実証によって明らかにし、両者の連合運動（1923～1935年）が、「満洲国」建国など当時の日中間の政治状況、さらにはその社会の草の根レヴェルにどのような影響をおよぼしたかについて、アジア主義・超国家主義といった政治思想史の観点から考察する。以上から、連合運動の全体像を立体的に明らかにし、アジア主義・超国家主義における宗教の存在を明らかにすることを目指す。本研究の計画のうち、今年度は主に研究計画の第一段階、すなわち活動実態の実証的分析を重点的に行った。具体的には、史資料の発掘とそれをもとにした学会・研究会発表、論文執筆である。史資料の発掘については、大本教学研鑽所資料室（京都府亀岡市）や国会図書館（本館・関西館）などにおいて、教団機関誌や事務資料等の一次史料、回顧録等の文献など関係資料を数多く収集した。学会・研究会発表については、大小４つの学会等において発表を行い、それぞれ連合運動の1920年代の実態解明に重きを置いたもの、そしてそれをアジア主義・超国家主義思想に位置づける内容を発表した。論文執筆については、査読付きのものを含め3本が刊行された。学会・研究会発表の内容をブラッシュアップしたものがその中心であったが、「世界宗教連合会」や「世界紅卍字会後援会」などこれまでの研究ではあまり注目されてこなかった活動の実態を明らかにし、また宗教・政治思想について、すべての宗教の根は一つであるという「宗教統一」思想をアジア主義・超国家主義と関連させて論じた。以上のように、今年度は計画していた第一段階の活動内容を確実に進めることが出来、第二段階の計画の準備が整った。
