本研究は、19世紀後半から20世紀前半のヨーロッパにおける「色盲」言説を対象としていたが、コロナ禍によりヨーロッパでの調査・研究を断念せざるを得なかった。そこで2021年度は、準備期間中から行なっていた研究を継続するとともに、国内での文献の収集や研究交流などを中心に行ない、研究基盤の確立に努めた。まず、申請時に設定した三つの目的のうち、目的①（19世紀後半から20世紀前半の西欧における「色盲」についての支配的言説の実態の解明）に関連した文献の収集と読解を行なった。また、目的③（「色盲」についての言説や表象、視覚器具が当事者＝科学者を含む「色盲」当事者の主体形成にどのような影響を与えていたのかを明らかにすること）の達成のために、当事者研究会の開催や文献解釈等を通して、当事者の経験に共通する一般化可能なパターンの抽出を試みた。出版社の依頼により、以上の成果の一部に基づいた二冊目の単著を執筆中である。2021年度中にいくつかの研究会にて構想発表を行ない、目下執筆中である（2022年度中に脱稿、同年度中に刊行予定）。本書は、アウトリーチ活動の一環として、色覚少数派当事者の経験に焦点を当てた一般向けの書籍となる予定である。また以上に加えて、本研究課題全体の遂行に大きく関係する先行研究であるアメリカの研究者による書籍（単著）の翻訳出版に向けた作業を行なっている。これも同じく2022年度中に脱稿、同年度中に刊行予定である。
