项目摘要

本年度は研究着手のため、理論分野と実証分野の把握が中心となった。オンライン開催の研究会に出席し、文献研究を進めた。これまでのところ、中東社会におけるジェンダー研究はフィールドワークによる人類学的地域研究アプローチが中心であり、本研究課題のような実証的研究の成果は希少である。実証の可能性においては行動経済学の理論に基づくフレームワークが幅広いパースペクティブを有しており、本研究課題においても有用だと感じられた。具体的な基礎理論はTimur KuranのPrivates Truths, Public Liedsの中に見られる。この理論研究は実証研究で「社会的望ましさバイアス」として認識されているものを追求し、思考の深化を試みている。Kuranは「選好の改ざん」という概念を用いている。これは単に「社会的に望ましいとされる意見や態度」が存在するために自分の選好を隠すだけにとどまらない。集合的に考えると、あらゆる人間が選好を改ざんすることで社会全体としては改ざんされた意向が世論となって社会的な決定を下す。例えば、「特定の属性を差別の対象として良い」とする選好改ざんが集合的に発生すると、その意向は社会的決定となって構成員を拘束する。社会の外部から「かかる差別は否定されねばならない」という規範が持ち込まれたとしても、社会的決定が宗教のような社会的に共有される強力な規範によって正当化される時、外部からの規範は差別を覆すような力にはならないだろう。
