本研究は、かつて支配－被支配の関係にあり、かつ生業の異なるツチ族（生業：牧畜・遊牧）とフツ族（生業：農耕）とが共存するルワンダの東部州ンゴマ郡、同国北部州ルリンド郡の農村部を対象に、i）現状の農村社会に内在する不安定性を検証し、ii）個人・家計・社会が迫られる、急速な人口増加や政府主導の開発戦略による社会構造の変容に対する適応との関係を明らかにすることを目的としている。本年度は、基礎データの収集とプレ・サーベイとして農業生産体系や生活水準、伝染病等に代表される自然条件等に関する歴史的データの収集やこれまで実施された家計調査データの収集、植生地図や気象（降水量・気温等）、土壌図等のGISデータの収集、北部州・ルリンド郡農村部におけるプレ・サーベイを計画していた。1992年、1996年、2000年、2005年、2010年、2013年の6回にわたって実施された国勢調査であるIntegrated Household Living Conditions Survey (EICV)や1976年、1988年、2001年、2010年に実施された農業国勢調査でRwanda Agricultural Census等のデータの所在を確認した。またGISデータとして、Rwanda Land Management and Use Authority (RLMUA)が土地所有者情報、地籍情報、土地利用計画、衛星画像などの土地関連の情報、さらにRwanda Natural Resources Authority (RNRA)が地形データ、土地利用データ、森林データ等の環境データを提供していることが確認された。これらに関しては現在、利用に向けて取得と手続きを行っている。
