現代中国では省・自治区を地方行政区画の頂点とする縦割りの行政システムをとっているため、地域（省・自治区）を単位として民族集団を分断するような流れ（地域主義）となる場合がある。その一方、民族ごとの一体化やアイデンティティを強調する民族主義も存在する。ひとつの民族集団が複数の省（自治区）を跨いでいる跨省民族の場合、省境による分断化（地域主義）の流れの中、どのようにして省域を越えて協同し、いかなる形で民族内部での統合（民族主義）を実現しようとしてきた/いるのだろうか？本研究の目的は、３つの省に分断されているトン族の事例をもとに、この問いに答えることである。具体的にはトン族の人々が組織している合法的学術性社団組織による[省境を越えた協同と民族内部の統合に向けた諸活動]について解明する。本研究は[競合関係]（分断化）の解明が主体だった、【横の関係】（同レベルの地方行政区画間の相互関係）の研究に[協同関係]の解明を加えることにより新たな局面を開くものであり、政治的境界（地方行政区画）と民族集団との関係性の研究の新たな展開にもつながる。令和4年度はCOVID-19に伴う渡航制限の影響を受けたため、予定していた現地渡航は実施できなかったが、（CNKIなどインターネットツールを使うことによって、）文献資料についてはある程度収集することができた。過去に収集済みの資料と新規収集資料を併せて分析することにより、今後の現地渡航に向けての準備を進めた。
