本研究の目的は、ピクトグラムによるADL評価指標は文字のみで表現されている従来の評価指標と同等の妥当性と信頼性があり、より簡便にADLを評価することができるか検討することである。背景としては「介護事業所の人手不足」が挙げられる。わが国は高齢化率の上昇により、介護の必要な高齢者は増えているが、現場のスタッフの数が不足している。そのような中で厚生労働省は、「科学的介護」を重点課題とし、大規模データベース「LIFE」を構築した。その中には、利用者のADLを半年に一回計測し、データベースへ提出して一定以上の値であると介護報酬が得られる、「ADL維持等加算」がある。この加算はADLを定期的に測定し、そのフィードバックデータを元に各事業所で利用者のADLが維持するよう介入を行うことで、健康寿命を延伸させることが目的だ。令和3年度の介護報酬改定ではこの加算が10倍になり、その重要度は増している。しかし、介護施設のスタッフはADL測定を負担に感じており、ADL維持等加算を算定している施設は多くない。よって、より簡便にADLが測定できるツールを開発することで、多忙である介護スタッフの負担を軽減でき、利用者の健康寿命の延伸に繋がるのではないかと考えられる。2022年度はデザイン作成のためのデルファイ法を行う予定であったが、Covid-19感染拡大により対面を伴う研究実施や感染症対策と関連する関係機関との調整が難しかったことから、計画を変更した。まず介護施設スタッフ数名へピクトグラムのデザインに関してのヒアリングと改定を行い、完成させた。その後、倫理審査を通過することができた。
