本研究において、当初検討していた徘徊検知システムは、共同研究者で協議し一部改変したセンサとビーコンの組み合わせに変更し実証研究用の開発にあたった。外部の企業（AI・LoTなどを含む幅広いシステム開発を担う企業）と業務委託契約を結び、システム開発は外部委託した。2022年11月頃より徘徊検知システムの開発に向けて、業務委託先と定期的な打ち合わせを実施し、センサの機能と徘徊検知を通知するアプリケーション上の要件定義を行い、徘徊検知システムの基盤となるものが完成した。実装デモンストレーションを行った結果、大きな問題は見当たらなかったが、導入するフィールドの構造と通信状況や構造を把握した上で調整が必要である。当初システムを在宅や高齢者施設にも導入する予定としていたが、すでに認知症患者の離院に関する課題を抱える病院と共同研究契約を締結した。ニーズの高い認知症患者が多く入院している病棟を研究フィールドとする。2022年11月に研究フィールドとなる病棟の構造や通信ネットワーク状況の確認のため、病院視察をを予定していたが、COVID-19の感染拡大時期と重なったため、2023年5月に延期した。業務委託先の選定や業務委託先の多業務の請負状況も含め、開発着手はやや遅れたが、その後の徘徊検知システム開発と研究フィールドとの調整はおおむね順調である。2023年度は実証実験の倫理審査の申請を行うとともに、病棟へシステムを導入するスケジュールを立てていく。
