平成26年度には、グリニッジ天文台とイギリス帝国各地の天文台の関係についての研究を中心的に進めた。グリニッジ天文台長ジョージ・エアリの書簡集を主たる素材として分析し、植民地天文台のネットワークの生成・構造・史的展開を究明した。これにより、天文台長の権限、植民地天文台の設置目的とその機能、本国からの技術移転と観測機器や活動の標準化、さらにそれが植民地統治と科学研究の進展に与えた影響の一端を把握することができた。また、グリニッジ天文台の上位機関である海軍省の科学研究部門に関する調査を行い、19世紀イギリスにおける国家主導の科学研究の仕組みとその内部でのグリニッジ天文台の位置を検討した。今後は帝国の天文台ネットワークを構成する科学者たちの活動に関する理解をより深める作業を行うとともに、特定の植民地天文台の活動に焦点を絞ることで、全体像と個別状況の両面を考察することを計画している。7月には、ケンブリッジ大学図書館でグリニッジ天文台アーカイブズの調査を行った。2月には、同図書館及びイギリス水路局において19世紀の海軍水路局による海図作成と植民地天文台との関連を調査した。また、学会・研究会における口頭報告を重点的に行い、多数の指摘・批判を頂いた。とりわけイギリス科学史学会（7月）では、問題関心を共有する研究者たちから具体的な批判・助言をもらうことができ、論文執筆に向けた非常に有益なステップとすることができた。
