C2 Technology (**C2T**) is a company that develops innovative solutions for energy recovery, saving and storage as well as renewables to help industries meet demands for a low carbon world. C2T's main field of activities lies in the area of recovery of low-grade energy waste that is, otherwise, released into the environment in a variety of processing industries such as chemical, food and drink, manufacturing, cement etc.Anglo Beef Processors (**ABP**) is a company whose main business function is the processing of beef. ABP understands they have a responsibility to ensure that natural resources are in place for the next generation. The BEIS Industrial Heat Recovery Programme found that in 2014 11TWh of industrial heat could have been technically recovered, but only 5TWh of this would have been commercially viable due to many low power sources. Low-power waste energy recovery in particular is widely overlooked by the larger service operators as it is technically difficult to recover and less profitable than recovery of high-power energy waste. The project team's focus is on recovery of low-power (<150kW) energy waste through pressure-to-power (P2P) processes in steam networks of a variety of industries. There is now a critical impetus for enhanced energy efficiency due to the concerns of greenhouse gas emissions, energy affordability and energy security. To be in-line with these needs many industries started to examine ways of recovering low-power low-grade energy waste they produce while operating.A key concern with the current market offerings for energy recovery systems is their high cost with comparatively lengthy payback (\>3-5 years) on investment. C2T believes that the modular concept along with their innovative low-cost gas bearings will give a significant market advantage and lead to more efficient recovery of waste energy across a range of industry sectors. This project will enable C2T to complete the detailed 20kWe modular energy conversion system (MECS) design and manufacture, prove system's cost and performance achieving TRL6, and payback period in an Industrial lab environment, provided by ABP, establishing confidence in the technology for the next phase beta-prototype. Whilst ABP will generate free electricity using P2P conversion simultaneously reducing pollution of the environment. The project would enable key stakeholders to evaluate MECS, leading to subsequent demonstration sites and external investment. The Implementation of MECS will contribute achieving by the UK economy zero carbon levels by 2050 with the potential of reducing the UK CO2 emissions by 130,000 tons/year.
