A conversational AI virtual avatar that communicates in real-time using British Sign Language (BSL). It can convert any spoken work, both live and digital, and give access to such content to 11 million people in the UK who report hearing difficulties - starting with 151,000 BSL first language speakers. By doing so it helps promote accessibility and inclusivity by removing the digital glass wall for people with hearing impairment. This project uses a combination of Machine learning techniques, Motion graphs, and GAN technologies, and the avatar is modeled around real people to create a human-like translator. The technology is being built to quickly learn other sign languages and through future iterations, the project has the capability to increase the accessibility to spoken and digital content for 700 million people globally by 2050\.
