Urbuntu is a UK-based company committed to investing in and developing low-income communities in Africa, Asia & Latin America helping them thrive and flourish.Urbuntu is working with 3B Impact, a UK-based consultancy that specialises in supporting innovative commercial opportunities that have a social impact.Based on Urbuntu's substantial expertise as advisors to international organisations on low-cost housing, and with 3B Impact's expertise in aligning social impact with commercial business opportunities, are aiming to transform low-cost housing in developing countries through commercially investable developments.In 2017, the Government of Kenya established Affordable Housing as one of its big 4 development agenda however despite significant demand, the private sector has not found a successful business case to provide affordable housing for low and middle-income households at scale.It is in this context, that our work has identified the need to carry out a feasibility study focused on the Nairobi residential lettings market in order to establish a clear business case for developing formal rental market which could provide affordable, safe and appropriately located accommodation for low and middle-income households.
