英文摘要
We propose to develop and test Historiscope; a new device that allows visitors to experience historical snapshots in time at heritage sites. The Historiscope as a concept was first developed in January 2021 in response to a challenge issued by HES), Scotland's leading public heritage body. The challenge was to develop a new product that would allow for visitors to engage more directly with the monuments from a precise outdoor viewpoint, by delivering a range of content including historical and archaeological reconstructed views. The need to evolve the user experience at the site, to engage visitors in historical and cultural content led HES to put out a call for an innovative challenge project. We developed and tested the proof of concept at Urquhart Castle, near Inverness, in September 2021\. This was subjected to HES and public review and the feedback was overwhelmingly successful. Consequently, we successfully delivered integrated software and hardware experiences in a new way in the heritage sector.**The aim now is to develop a functional prototype of the Historiscope that will invite users into another dimension - a historical dimension as they first encounter the site from a key vantage point. Imagine stepping back in time to a point where the heritage site was in its prime, unscathed by the passage of time.**Think big, think Stirling castle, in its prime. Once a seat of Scottish royalty, a court full of lords and ladies, soldiers, knights and peasants amid the splendour, colour and towering heights of the castle. We have identified a location in the foreground of the Stirling Castle, which will allow for fun, informative and accurate reconstructions to bring an authentic snapshot of the castle to life. This project will enable us to carry out the feasibility studies and customer research necessary for us to better understand the visitor needs and interests. This research and development project will support our journey to make the Historiscope a product that will enhance visitor experiences at heritage sites across the globe.
