With loneliness becoming an even greater well-being concern for older people through the pandemic, the need to supplement in-person support services through technology is an important innovation challenge. Our ground-breaking solution, HomeCare, is a major step forward in enabling this.HomeCare is a patented and unique AI smart home assistant solution that helps elderly people to connect to a suite of digital services, using voice and screen interactions through Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The solution was developed to complement real world care and aims to help users combat social isolation and loneliness by connecting family, friends, and support services together. It is designed to provide an easy, voice-enabled way to assist older people in everyday tasks, stay informed about what is going on and stay connected to the community and the people that matter.HomeCare has been shared across multiple settings for extended periods of time, testing the services with older people. The solution elicited positive responses from users, and demonstrates the value the solution provides:\* "Actually, it's almost like having company. When you live on your own...it's quite nice" -- Hilary, 81\* "I've been using it to remind me to lock my door and close my windows, you see, I don't remember that usually and I live on the ground floor. It helps me stay safe" -- Nigel, 75\.\* "Some days this is the only voice I hear and it makes a difference. Just to hear someone/something talk back helps you stay positive and keep going" -- Mick, 55\.Homecare is an independent living platform leveraging the latest technologies in cloud and smart device technologies. The solution tracks appointments, encourages participation in local events, supports online shopping, promotes health and well-being and more.HomeCare's features include:\* Morning Routine -- tracking mood, medicines, appointments\* Listing appointments from Google Calendar\* Evening checklist\* Meetups, food delivery service capabilities\* Financial coaching via video service, easy access to food bank, etc.\* Web Caregiver Portal -- activity summary, reviewing user moods allowing proactive measures to be taken, and much more\* Integration with third party services provides the option to further expand the services. With HomeCare we can harness the power of innovation to meet the needs of an ageing society. We know our concept works and we now need to deliver at scale to support older people as they emerge from the pandemic and rebuild their confidence and networks.
