英文摘要
This proposal is for a 2-year project led by Music in Mind Remote (MIMR) a new company recently co-founded by University of Manchester and Manchester Camerata.MIMR has specifically been founded to scale the joint work and IP both organisations have been delivering for more than a decade using music therapy-based activity to help improve health outcomes and quality of life for people living with dementia in care home settings. For the last 12 years, Manchester Camerata has delivered music therapy-based activity to people living with dementia. Their unique approach uses improvisation to help people living with dementia express themselves and communicate with others. These sessions help reduce frustration, enable new connections to be made, and have a profound effect on daily life. But delivering face-to-face activities with musicians in care homes can only ever reach a very limited number of the 850,000 who have dementia in the UK.This is because staff do not always have the skills to support the activities, and it is very expensive to provide. That is why we have decided to build a platform that can deliver our music for dementia programmes online. This solution will incorporate online training for care professionals, and online delivery of programmes.Manchester Camerata already works in close partnership with the University of Manchester, which has jointly founded the new MIMR company. They will license IP to the MIM company to support delivery of this programme, making sure that what we develop really meets the needs of people with dementia and providers in care homes. We are also working with an organisation called Social Sense, which already has an app used by people with dementia. By building our product within an existing platform we think we will be able to reach, and help, more people.By the end of the project we will have tested, effective product ready to be used in care home and community settings.
