With a core project team of James Whitlock (Project/Technical Lead), Leighton Thomas (Managing Director) and John Barter (Commercial Lead), UK medical devices SME Physiolab Technologies Ltd (Physiolab) is developing a smart, iceless, cold compression device to speed recovery and reduce hospital stays following orthopaedic surgery/injury. The use of thermoelectric effect and smart technology makes the device efficient, effective and easy to use, offering broader access to proven treatment and enabling the NHS to remove patients from waitlists. As wait times are longest in areas with lower socioeconomic status, this solution can improve medical equity across the UK.
