Type 2 diabetes is on the rise across all of society. Living with type 2 diabetes can result in drastic complications including heart attack, stroke, limb amputation, and blindness. The risk of developing type 2 diabetes increases as a patient ages, and the development of diabetes can significantly impair quality of life, putting a patient at higher risk of dementia and poor quality of life and reducing average lifespan by 5-6 years.At Habitual, we help patients to achieve remission from the type 2 diabetes (where patients are able to return to a normal blood glucose state without medications) through the use of a food product and our companion behaviour change app.By partnering with Innovate UK and Nesta, we will add a new technology, continuous glucose monitoring, to our programmes to allow patients to receive more detailed, highly personalised care, enabling them to have the best chance of sustaining weight loss and remission of type 2 diabetes long into the future.
