Atomictractor together with University of Huddersfield will undertake a feasibility project to analyse and prove the concept of a hydrogen fuel cell drivetrain for a utility farm tractor. The eventual system under study will replace the diesel engine and transmission in the tractor and result in zero emissions. It will examine the possibility of green hydrogen, produced locally as a sustainable fuel. Following a detailed exercise to define the component sizing and matching, detailed analysis of system efficiencies and performance will be undertaken together with hydrogen consumption requirements to provide a blueprint for further development and commercialisation of a utility hydrogen farm tractor to be manufactured in the UK.
