Upscale of Alkaline fuel Cell for HGV use

Mersey Fair Air are a start-up technology organisation based in the heart of Liverpool, accelerating the development of zero emission and low carbon vehicle technologies. Our preparatory work includes building and testing small alkaline fuel-cells (AFCs) under license for incorporation into vehicles. This scalable alkaline fuel-cell technology lends itself to applications that require large power requirements, such as HGVs, trains and marine.We are partnering with a specialist vehicle and volumetric concrete mixer supplier, KC3, which is our current primary target market before exploring other HGV opportunities. The refurbishment of a donor electric vehicle will be used to demonstrate the fuel cell technology, battery integration, battery management system (BMS) and hydrogen fuel tanks which will provide a platform to work with KC3 and other future HGV partners.A successful project will ensure that heavy goods hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles can be remanufactured, taking advantage of the hydrogen pathway that the Liverpool City Region has heavily invested in. These initiatives will substantially add to the governments levelling up agenda, providing green jobs, reducing pollution and increasing wealth across the North West of England.
