英文摘要
**This industrial research project** aims to demonstrate the ability to produce a valuable product from currently unused waste; generating a more **energy-efficient product with at least a 45% lower carbon footprint** compared with existing products. The technology will open up **new sources of revenue for CCC** and reduce energy usage and CO2 emissions from brick and concrete production. Enabling the waste management industry's waste streams to be used as a raw material for a new product for brick and block manufacturers has the potential to divert a significant volume of material from landfill sites and **breathe new life into the recovery options** through an energy-efficient way.The development of an **alkali-activated GeoBrick** with patented technology, where the **combination of alternative calcium-silicate-rich materials and CFC** that do not require burning, would circumvent current limitations and enable a technological breakthrough in the construction sector. In this project, **CCC will scale up the patented technology in their CD&E recycling plant** to achieve a production **capacity of around 200 bricks/day**. The manufactured brick will be used to build a demonstration structure to investigate their performance. The new bricks' mechanical and environmental properties will be also investigated by third-party test facilities as required by the building regulator.**CCC Ltd has over 37 years of experience** in **collecting and recycling CD&E waste** and **marketing recycled aggregate**. CCC's innovative approach will disrupt the construction sector by providing **market-ready products** using LJMU technology and converting the CFC wastes with validated properties as set by the building regulators. **Boosting the consumption of local waste-based resources** is one of the most sustainable and ethical practices that lower emissions and meet the principles of circular economy, making other industries greener. This project is highly innovative, ambitious, and pioneering, **addressing key environmental and waste management challenges** in the construction industry.
