The primary objective of the Data Management Core is to support the development and maintenance of a central database, manage data collection and storage, provide biostatistical and bioinformatics support, and serve public access and dissemination needs for the proposed research. The Data Management Core will be led by investigators with significant expertise in data curation, data analysis, and data dissemination. The Data Management Core will work closely with the study investigators and their team members to support the overall goal of data curation and data distribution while laying the foundation for advancement toward RFA-NS-21-010 HEAL Initiative FOA: Non-addictive Analgesic Therapeutics Development [Small Molecules and Biologics] to Treat Pain (UG3/UH3 Clinical Trial Optional). The experimental approaches in this proposal will generate four types of datasets – a) molecular biology datasets (e.g., plasmid maps and sequences, viral vectors, and RNAseq); b) electrophysiology data (voltage-clamp, current-clamp and multi-electrode array recordings); c) transgenic animal strains and behavioral data; and d) statistical datasets. Comprehensive datasets will be exchanged freely and continuously among the various research components through a central data repository that we will manage on the OneDrive Microsoft Office 365 platform. This will enable investigators from all research components to access data files including raw data, metadata, and analyzed data. The platform is secure and easily accessible and can provide storage that can be expanded up to 25TB, with individual file uploads of up to 100GB. As an alternative, we will consider, Box at Yale, a cloud-based file sharing and storage workspace with unlimited storage capacity that enables investigators from all research cores to collaborate and share information. In compliance with NIH HEAL Initiative Public Access and Data Sharing mandates, we will make data available as soon as possible to other investigators, the public, and the broader scientific community. We will share research with the public freely and immediately upon publication through PubMed, open access publications, and unrestricted use of electronic resources in addition to venues such as the Society for Neuroscience, and the International Association for the Study of Pain. We will deposit data associated with publications according to standard practices, i.e., sequencing data will be deposited in national repositories, plasmids will be deposited with Addgene, and transgenic mice will be shared with the Jackson labs. Upon publication, data and unique reagents will be shared with not-for-profit entities using standard Material Transfer Agreement (MTA). Agreements with for-profit entities will include protections of IP and licensing fees.
