Lite(House) is a high quality and low energy live/work housing prototype that will be unique in it's approach in reducing barriers to the aspiration of private home ownership for low to middle income earners. A summary of it's key attributes are as follows:**Flexibility in Ownership** - Lite(House) does not rely on cost reduction to make the purchase of housing achievable. Instead through a creative spatial organization combined with options for hybrid and fractional ownership residents are allowed to purchase core living areas at an affordable price and rent additional areas for themselves or to others.**Adaptive in Footprint** - Lite(House) allows for flexibility in the growth of a residents area requirements over time. Initially core living areas will be purchased and additional floor area can be either purchased or rented to reflect changes to lifestyle and family requirements.**Efficiency in Construction** - Lite(House) will be constructed using a lightweight and innovative modular assembly strategy. The proposal aims to reduce the amount of steel employed overall through a more efficient arrangement of modules. Overall material use will be reduced and materials with a high recycled content and low embodied energy will be maximized within the design.
