These emissions are projected to reach 10-30% by 2030\. The growing reliance on data-centres is a key driver that is increasing emissions significantly, with data-centres using \\\>11% of Ireland's electricity generated. Several areas, including North London, have limited the construction of data-centres to reduce electrical grid demands. The EU's Sustainable Financial Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) and the UK Sustainable Disclosure Regulation (SDR) come into operation in 2023/24, and place requirements on large organisations to report on their Scope 3 carbon-footprint. This opens a significant market, potentially £44bn, and has the potential to dramatically reduce emissions if organisations can fully utilise their data. The US and other large economies are expected to enter the market within a few years.
