英文摘要
As part of the Cancer Moonshot program, a Blue-Ribbon Panel (BRP) recommended the creation of a national patient participation network, with broad reach and inclusivity, to support direct participant engagement.
This need is recognized under both the “Enhanced Data Sharing” and the “Network for Direct Patient Engagement” BRP Working Groups. The overall goal of this network is to engage a diverse patient population who
would consent to share their clinical data. A key requirement of the proposed network is to open doors to all patients, including those with limited socioeconomic means, rural populations, and other medically disadvantaged
groups who otherwise might never have access to benefits from research studies.
The proposed work will help integrate various participant engagement efforts with NCI’s communication and content strategy as coordinated by the Office of Communications and Public Liaison (OCPL),
ensuring that all participant engagement studies leverage the existing digital presence and platform provided by cancer.gov. Further, it will support the existing engagement efforts, as well as any future NCI-funded study that
engages online with patients and potential research participants to enable people and cancer patients to better understand the experience of becoming and staying engaged as a participant in cancer research studies and trials and make
informed decisions about pursuing opportunities to participate in cancer research.
