Recocoa is seeking funding from Innovate UK to complete development and take to market its active lifestyle bar. This bar, initially 3 different flavoured 60g cacao bars, will enter the growing sports nutrition market in the UK which is currently is £700m CAGR and growing at a rate of 20% year on year, with a global market of £9bn of which £1.65bn in Europe (source Mintel). Competitors include Tribe, Grenade, Huel and Graze, each of which offer an on line e-commerce platform.The significant USP of Recocoa's product is that through its patented cacao production process, produced on a unique machine, it produces the key base ingredient which acts as a natural cardio vascular stimulator. This is because, unlike the present methods for producing cacao, the product retains a number of natural health promoting flavanols, phytonutrients, probiotics, stimulents and complex chemicals. The company aims to be the first to market in the sports nutrition market and with a product which can boast the European Health Claim (EFSA) and which can improve normal blood circulation by maintaining the elasticity of blood vessls.The funding is required to complete development from its current prototype bar to the finished product which will be ready to market. This will involved optimising the cacao process at Recocoa's manufacturing site at CPI, Wilton, and working with its manufacturing partner and initially, toll producer, to finalise the formulation, including and informed by taste testing. Completing packaging design and production will be carried out in conjunction with our Marketing partner..Simultaneously the route to market will be clarified by working with its marketing sub contractor and partner, House Creative, a boutique marketing consultancy based in Macclesfield to undertake work on branding, web design and web site with the facility for e commerce. The approach to product launch including marketing campaigns will also be covered.The different components of this project will come together at the end of the project when Recocoa will be in a position to launch its unique product offer with a highly innovative and only product in the Direct to Consumer space carrying an EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) claim for improving heart health by improving normal bloodcirculation by maintaining the elasticity of blood vessels .
