英文摘要
In this proposal, Q Chip is seeking to address a major obstacle for the production & distribution of vaccines. Whilst vaccination programmes have substantial benefits for global health, it is estimated that up to 50% of vaccine stocks are wasted due to lapses in storage conditions; aluminium adjuvant crystals (an essential component of many vaccines) have limited stability & require specific cold storage systems to prevent product damage. We propose a new, innovative system for stabilising these key vaccine components, by using novel, completely biocompatible microsphere supports. We wish to investigate the formation of aluminium adjuvant crystals within a hyperporous matrix provided by a unique microsphere-based technology. Developing such a system could allow us to produce stabilised & enhanced vaccine products, reducing the cost of vaccine distribution & leading the development in a therapeutic area with a global impact.
