The Feasibility of a Rapidly Reconfigurable Users and Services-centred Surgical Pre-Assessment Information Management System

Effective pre-operative assessment is widely identified and acknowledged as a key contributor to improved surgical outcomes and operational benefits for health services such as the NHS. Despite this, many services rely on paper-based approaches and do not derive the full benefit for their service or their patients. Although software solutions are the natural choice for services wishing to modernise, widely varying work-flows, local approaches and guidenlines make the deployment of a generic solution highly problematic. This feasibility study investigates the design and deployment of a rapidly reconfigurable user and service-centred pre-operative assessment information management system which is rapidly deployed, cost-effective, reliable and safe.
