Geopolymers are an emerging sustainable, user friendly and recyclable group of materials. They have low embodied energy and are not made from fossil fuel raw materials as most conventional polymers are.This project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of making a foam geopolymer that can be used to effectively prevent fire spreading within buildings from floor to floor.It will replace a very old and high embodied energy material that uses a mixture of plaster and mineral fibres to achieve the same effect.
