英文摘要
Plastic electronics is an extremely cost effective route for manufacture of electrical components and in the PEVOCs project, it is the route that will be used to produce a range of sensitive chemical sensors that are designed to detect and measure volatile organic compounds or VOCs. These are chemicals that make up the smells we detect with our noses and the plastic electronic sensors will be able to detect these and use the sensor responses in the diagnosis of diseases. The aims of the project are 1) to demonstrate reduction of cost per sensor using mass production and 2) to test the feasibility of these plastic electronic sensors to detect VOCs and mixtures of the same. Then biological samples such as bacterial cultures will be sampled to test if the sensors will be capable of identifying bacterial species. The project will produce a demonstration unit to show the sensors working at the Collaboration Nation event being held in London on 10th December 2013.
