Audio Beacon Based Authentication

This project aims at experimental evaluation of the potential use of audio beacons for thepurpose of testing the feasibility of a new method of authentication which combines human voice with sound signal processing. The proposed solution is to create a test platform which includes several Internet-of-Thing devices for exploring the technical feasibility of the combination of active and passive information channels in various user authentication scenarios. The work will be done at the Cyber Security Research Centre of London Metropolitan University entirely using public sources of information, open source software and public cloud services. Expected outcome is to create a technological framework for secure authentication when using voice communication devices at home. The project will require research into the technologies, software prototyping and experimental evaluation of the technological feasibility and commercialization potential of the implemented solution. The problem of secure authentication when using voice is becoming an important issue due to the increased popularity of home devices controlled by voice. Potential benefits for industrial customers are anticipated in wide area of financial and commercial industries as well as in the area of home entertainment. The solution will advance further the possibility to build intelligent digital infrastructure at home and will contribute to the overall strategy for developing of the cyber society.
