Development of Prototype - Inhaler Waste Shot Machine

Asthma drugs are administered orally by an inhaler that “shoots” the drug into the respiratorysystem. An inhaler consists of a pressurised can containing the drug and a plastic case thatcontains the can. It is estimated that over 2.5 billion inhalers are produced each year and everybatch of inhalers manufactured has samples tested before being released for sale. The testsmeasure the key physical characteristics of the first, middle and last shot in the can/inhaler,and the intermediate shots need to be removed from the can safely in a process known as shotwasting. There is a small but growing, high value market for machines that manage the wasteshot process. Current waste shot machines are obsolescent, largely of USA origin. NoviSystems Ltd’s business strategy is to design, develop and produce a market leading, efficient,innovative waste shot machine. After a successful Proof of Concept Study, the second stage isto develop a pre-production prototype of the new machine.
