In patients with kidney failure a dialysis machine hooks up to a vascular access (VA) site to filter their blood. Currently, even the best method for VA has a high failure rate. A clogged access site presents a serious danger to the patient’s life and requires costly and potentially painful surgery to repair. Our novel catheter device creates a more reliable access site through a minimally invasive procedure that makes it accessible to more patients and reduces cost for the healthcare system. Innovate UK funding will help us create a professional patent portfolio. This is necessary in our path toward the further development and commercialization of our technology and will ensure that as many patients as possible will be able to receive the benefits of our technology.
