Kraydel helps maintain and improve quality of life for the elderly with its IoT-based system that consists of a hub (that clips to the top of the TV), a simple remote control, and social engagement platform accessible through the TV. The Kraydel hub has built-in environmental monitoring capabilities (the hub houses sensors for temperature, light, sound, and motion) to monitor the activities of daily living to support elder independence and wellbeing. This project will fund the production of 1000 Kraydel units and their installation in user’s homes. We will then work to evaluate how Kraydel’s wellbeing tools help to reduce the concerns of the User's carers (e.g. friends, family and professional carers). We also address loneliness and social isolation using a camera to support better communication and connectedness between the independently living elderly person, and their ecosystem of care / support. Our system allows elderly people living alone to confidently make and receive video calls, send text messages, participate in group video meetings, and view broadcast events. In the future, we plan to consult with and include a number of third party services such as virtual doctor, nurse and domiciliary care visits to the system. We believe we can address the challenge of high quality of life for older people, at scale, with our user-centric approach.
