英文摘要
Public description of project Please describe your project in a way that is understandable to the general public. This description will be published only if you enter into a loan agreement with Innovate UK Loans Ltd to comply with government requirements. Providing this summary is mandatory but the text will not be assessed. Please ensure it is suitable for public disclosure. Funding will not be provided to successful projects without this. The global oil and gas industry has a rapidly growing problem with leak detection, security breaches and the prevention of incidents. These incidents affect global prices, oil and gas supply and cause long lasting and highly destructive damage to the environment and the lives of those who live and work near these pipelines. While there are multiple groups exposed to this problem only one, the oil and gas pipeline companies, can act to tackle the problem. This project seeks to develop Limpet, a ground breaking, O&G pipeline monitoring solution for the effectual, continuous, real time monitoring, identification and reduction of all pipeline leaks. Our solution will combine cloud-based analysis and in-situ sensing technology capitalising on transformational power of data analytics and revolutionising the efficacy of leak, theft and vandalism detection solutions globally. The Limpet solution is a high value proposition not only for O&G companies and society as a whole as it will provide the following benefits: (1) continuous pipeline monitoring with real time alerts ensuring uninterrupted supply of O&G (2 )greatly improved detection rates of 99+%, (3)cheaper installation operation and maintenance costs, (4) a retrofittable hardware device with a lifecycle of 10+ years (4) reduced carbon emissions due to reduced hydrocarbon leaks as well as eliminated power usage.
