Our website will allow migrant support organisations to enter their research needs online in order to inform undergraduate, Masters, PhD and professional academic research right at the beginning of the research process. Students and academics will be able to draw on the website in order to formulate their research questions in the light of an organisation's identified needs. The website draws upon principles of participatory research, and we are proud to have the backing of the Migrant Rights Network in order to get the project off the ground. We have had an indication from eight separate university departments and centres that they will find the project worthwhile. Their associated students and academics will have access to an online facility where potentially hundreds of research ideas and needs will be listed by migrant support groups. This will enhance the impact of the research conducted these departments and centres. The website will be:1) Updated regularly: in collaboration with the Migrant Rights Network and asylum-network.com, the migrant support community would be invited to add and update their research needs every six months.2) Interactive: options will allow academics and migrant support groups to specify their research interests and search according to keywords in areas such as migrant health, asylum, detention and legal issues, or by region.3) Hosted by an academic institution: The intention would be to create a self-sustaining website that would exist indefinitely beyond the life of the project. The University of Exeter would host the website.4) Informative: training materials, action packs and successful approaches in working effectively with migrant support groups throughout the research process would be included on the website. This research proposal is to ask for funds to design, launch and 'autonomise' the website as outlined.
