The ND280 electromagnetic calorimeter (ECal) provides extensive information about charged particles that enter it, such as those produced in neutrino and antineutrino interactions within the detector. Different particles have different signatures in the ECal, so this information can be used to supplement the dE/dx-based particle ID provided by the ND280 time projection chambers. This is particularly useful for measurements of rarer neutrino interaction types where statistics are limited and high selection efficiency needs to be achieved without sacrificing purity. Measuring these reaction types contributes to our understanding of neutrino-nucleus interactions, and helps to constrain systematic errors for the T2K neutrino oscillation experiment. This project aims to develop ECal-based particle ID tools for muons, charged pions and protons. These PID tools will then be used to perform a differential cross-section measurement for antinumu CC1mu1pi1p interactions, where a muon-antineutrino interacts with a nucleus to produce an antimuon, a negative pion and a proton.
