英文摘要
This project aligns to the bioscience and biotechnology sectors specifically through improving food security and production and increasing the disease resistance of a range of commercially important fish species for UK aquaculture including rainbow trout and turbot. It will also impact on a range of fish species that are burgeoning UK industries such as tilapia, seabass, catfish, and barramundi, each of which is susceptible to Streptococcosis. If the UK is to increase self-reliance in food production, alternate farming of more diverse species of fish must be investigated alongside strategies to increase current capacity in the trout industry and improved disease control will have positive knock on effects for fish health, welfare and overall productivity.
