英文摘要
This PhD research project will design, implement and evaluate a home-based peer-support physical activity intervention programme for young women who have completed treatment for cervical cancer and have a self-expressed barrier to physical activity because of symptoms associated with their treatment. A multi-component theory-driven intervention consisting of 24 weeks of home-based, self-managed, moderate intensity walking programme will be implemented. A total of 60 women who meet the study inclusion criteria will be recruited and randomised to either the intervention group or the control group. Currently there are in excess of 50 new cervical cancers in women under 50 years diagnosed each year within Leicestershire and therefore the recruitment target is achievable (Personal communication with Dr Esther Moss, Consultant Gynaecologist, 2017).
