... in using internet sources to answers questions about sex, sexuality and health. The internet is widely used by the general public to search for information on a range of health and wellbeingissues. It is known that young people increasingly seek to supplement shortcomings in the formal educationthey receive about sex, sexuality and health through online sources. However, it is less clear exactly how theymount their searches; what questions they ask; what websites and resources (from blogs to advice providers)they find; and, how they assess the accuracy and utility of that information. We also know that web-searchingis a dialogic process in which users navigate the algorithmic landscape created through AI webpages as senseand meaning making activities. This PhD will explore how young people interact that AI when it comes to sex, sexuality and health. It will extend understanding of how they seek information and how that journey informstheir understanding of their sexual lives.
