Serotonergic psychedelics have broad therapeutic potential as a novel psychiatricintervention across a range of disorders. They also promote mental wellbeing in 'healthy'people. Despite these demonstrations, we have little insight into the mechanisms oftherapeutic change following psychedelics. A likely candidate is neural plasticity though therehave been few direct tests. This project examines changes in the network organization of thehuman brain after a single administration of dimethyltryptamine (DMT) using functionalmagnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Network measures will be used to predict clinicallyrelevant benefits in heavy drinkers and improvements in well-being in typical populations.
