7 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has the potential to revolutionise clinical imaging by providing higher resolution and increased SNR. However, 7 Tesla MRI has challenges with complex transmit field (B1+) interference. Parallel transmit is the solution but current methods to calibrate the parallel transmit system can be slow and inaccurate. This project focusses on investigating methods to achieve faster and more accurate B1+ mapping at 7 Tesla for applications in both the brain and the body. The student will work closely with the industrial partner to design a robust and clinically viable pulse sequence solution. In addition, radiofrequency sensor based methods of motion correction (e.g. Pilot Tone and pTx scattering) will be studied to investigate their potential use for motion detection and correction at 7 Tesla.
