英文摘要
Wallerian degeneration was discovered in axon injury, but has been shown to be involved in many neurodegenerativediseases. When active, the NADase SARM1 is a key executioner of the Wallerian degeneration (WD) pathway inneurons. The Coleman group has characterised several activators of SARM1 that differ in potency. This research projectwill study the molecular basis of these differences using both cell-free systems and neuronal culture, as part of a longertermaim to block activation and preserve axons in disease.
