Digital homosociality and networked popular misogyny: researching the intra-actions of teen masculinity and online affordances

Discourses of networked popular misogyny are entangled with masculinity performance and thedigital platforms which young people use to conduct their social lives (Boyle & Rathnayake, 2019;Banet-Weiser, 2018). Understanding how networked popular misogyny intra-acts with teen masculinity and homosociality is vital for the development of relevant and impactful digital sex andrelationships education which can challenge gender inequalities. This research will address this bylocating the behaviours and motivations of networked popular misogyny amongst teens then usingfindings to develop educational recommendations with sex and relationships education (SRE)organisation, Sexplain.
