Using an ABAQUS-implemented bond-based Peridynamics model, the goal of this project is to provide a deeper understanding of the failure mechanisms of TRISO coated particle fuel, especially regarding the crack propagation through the interfaces of the 3 layers of protection of the particle.The project started with an introductory Finite Elements analysis of the fabrication process of TRISO to unveil possible residual stresses that could affect its behaviour in the reactor.Secondly, a validation of the Peridynamics interface model has been performed on a simplified case of a bi-material ceramic specimen undergoing a 3-point-bend test.Finally the research will focus on the simulation of TRISO particles in real settings, with a possible comparison to experimental data
