This project aims to improve our understanding on how we can observationally differentiate between long-period, dynamically "new" comets and short-period comets that have passed perihelion numerous times. For this, we will use both targeted observations and survey data of comets at large heliocentric distances to deduce information about the surface properties of their nuclei.
