The student will perform a Qualification Task on flavour tagging triggers which will attempt to reduce the gluon->b b background process that is the largest contaminant of any Higgs boson search with the Higgs assumed to decay to b-quarks. The hope is to have this trigger, and an offline "gluon veto" in place before Run 3 starts. This will be the highest priority for the first year of her D.Phil. and will be an extremely important component of her subsequent research work. The student will research Exotic Higgs production in the multi-Higgs sector using data from Run 2 and simulations within the ATLAS experiment. Multi-Higgs signatures will all feature the decay of the Higgs boson to b quarks although this may not end up being the only decay signature studied or used by the student. The student may also perform phenomenology studies outside the ATLAS framework into multi-higgs signatures for future upgrades of the LHC and future colliders depending on the exact schedule details and data collection during her research time. If research time allows, A variety of channels will be explored with emphasis on 3-Higgs final states where at least two of the three Higgs particles decay into b-quarks. The uncertain nature of the LHC data-taking during this student's graduate career requires that we maintain some flexibility on her programme so that she may submit on-time.
